For me, last Winter began with
VERY cold weather. Winters in Chicago are clearly different from
winters in San Diego considering the leaves in San Diego haven't
even fallen. It wasn't as bad as I thought, and snow looks
awfully pretty...usually.
In January the Wheaton
College choirs and instrumental ensembles got
together
to perform Handel's Messiah...(the entire thing...3.5 hours long
or so). It was such a God-inspired piece and a beautiful
performance.
Luckily the winter's cold slightly lessened when I got mom's
famed "box of summer" which included many inflatable animals,
beach tunes, and summer-y
snacks.
My friends and I decided to go to the Indiana dunes of Lake
Michigan (the closest thing we have to a beach) and use the
inflatables to slide down the dunes. Unfortunately the 5 foot
turtle only made it down the dune 5 or 6 times before he popped
on a tree, but you can see me riding down the dune in the
sequence of pictures on the left.
Over
the summer I was pretty incapacitated due to my knee surgery,
but I did have one day of summer before I had the surgery, which
I spent surfing. Unfortunately the surf was pretty bad, and I
was pretty bad, and I just ended up breaking a fin on my
friend's board and bruising my healthy leg in 3 places with 6
inch bruises. Oh well. sometimes the ocean doesn't like me.
Spending the time with casts and such helped me slow down this
summer, so I can't say that the time was wasted. I did get to go
to New York with Mom and Dad. While there I was able to "paint
in the park" where painting instructors provide materials and
give you pointers here and there.
Sophomore year began with many
changes from my freshman year. Although I'm still in the same
hall in my dorm, I have 3 new roommates (whom I chose) and we
get along quite well, enjoy tea time, and have lots of fun
together.

I've also become more involved in Wheaton Improv's Imaginary
Friends, our Improv comedy group on campus. I'm the Public
Relations manager which means I make a lot of advertisements. I
especially like it because it's a great place of support.
Supporting your fellow
players is essential to improv, and we
explore not just comedy, but real life in general. It can be
quite therapeutic at times. The photo sequence to the right
is for my profile on our Wheaton Improv website.
Ever
since summer, I've been rehearsing for an opera I'm in, which
opens this coming Janurary. It's called Three Sisters who
are not Sisters, by Ned Rorem. I'm not surprised you haven't
heard of it before...not many had. But I'm pretty confident
it'll be a lot of fun.
I suppose that's all for
now....enjoy the pictures :).
